RAYMOND R. WOOD
Raymond R. Wood, age 89 of Peetz, CO passed away at the Sterling Regional Medical Center, Wednesday, May 18, 2016.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 23rd in the Peetz Community Church with Rev. Roger Gillming officiating. Military Graveside Honors will follow in the Peetz Cemetery. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Raymond’s care and funeral arrangements.
Raymond Roy Wood, the son of Wilbur Ray and Viola Mae (VanValkenburgh) Wood was born on February 7, 1927 at Peetz. Raymond graduated from Peetz High School with the Class of 1944 and served in the United States Army from 1945-1946 stationed in Italy. On November 15, 1955, Raymond was united in marriage to Patricia Marie Hegarty in Sidney. He was a member of the Peetz Community Church, the Peetz American Legion Post #134, the Peetz School Board, Peetz Fire Department and the Peetz Elevator Board of Directors. Raymond was a lifelong farmer, a substitute mail carrier and Crop Adjuster.
Survivors include his wife Patricia of Peetz; (2) daughters: Beverly Wilder of Gering, NE and Pamela Wood of Peetz; (2) sons: Randall Wood and wife Donna of Hudson, CO and Daniel Wood and wife Lorrie of Peetz; grandchildren: Amber Wilder of Gering, Nicholas Wood of Evan’s CO, Cassandra Wood of Akron, CO, Corey Wood of Hudson, Zachary Wood and Rayce Wood both of Peetz; great-grandson: Tanner Wood of Akron; (1) sister: Mona Williams of Greeley, CO; (2) sisters-in-law: Delores Hegarty and Grace Hegarty and numerous extended family members and friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law: Fae and Andrew Hegarty, (1) son-in-law: Charles Wilder, (1) sister: Eva Gillham and husband Bob, (1) brother: Robert Wood and wife Ruth, (3) brothers-in-law: Robert Williams, Buzz Hegarty and Ray Hegarty and (1) sister-in-law: Agnes Disney and husband Virgil.
