Obituary for Walter Christian "Walt" Weyerts
Walter C. “Walt” Weyerts, the son of Henry and Louise (Folster) Weyerts, was born on November 7, 1929, on the Weyerts farm in the house where he lived.
While he was growing up, Walt worked for miscellaneous farmers in the area and at the turkey factory in Oshkosh. Walt started a body shop with his brother Emil in 1948 until 1954, he worked at several area body shops and eventually returned to his own located at the Weyerts farm, building the new shop in 1965. His son Duane joined him in the Weyerts Body Shop and farming after graduating high school in 1977.
On January 27, 1957, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Irene Crees at the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church. To this union, three children were born: Debra, Duane and Janice. Phyllis worked by his side in the shop and helped with the farm. The couple were members of the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church, loved to attend polka dances, traveling near and far, telling stories, having family gatherings, antique cars and spoiling their grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their dog Shelby.
Survivors include his children, Debra and husband Charley Clark of Oshkosh, Duane Weyerts and wife BonNita of Dalton, Janice and husband Karl Bules III of Lodgepole; grandchildren, Kellie Tennant of Sterling, Colo., Kristofer Bules of Derby, Kan., Brian Dougherty and wife Jodi of Sidney, Robin Moore and husband Matthew of Sidney, Kyle Bules of Sidney, Nicholas Brodzeller of Fond du Lac, Wis., Julie Bules of Sidney, Dustin Brodzeller of Kewaskum, Wisconsin and Kyla Clark of North Platte; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother Emil and wife Elaine of Gurley; two sisters-in-law, Glenda Chipps and husband Jerry Bowman of Denver, Judy Frerichs and husband Virgil of Lodgepole; and a host of extended family members.
Walt was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, his parents, his sisters Catherine Belgum and Marie Darnsteadt; and brothers-in-law, Dennis and Gerald Duane Crees and Corliss Darnsteadt.
