Kathleen K. "Kathy"  Assad
Kathleen (Kathy) Kay Assad, age 58, died at University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colorado, on Friday, March 14, 2014. The cause of death was from lung disease.
Wake services will be held at 6:00 P.M., Thursday, March 20th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M., Friday, March 21st. Both services will be in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Art Faesser officiating. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday from 1-4:00 P.M.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Kathy’s care and funeral arrangements.
Born December 15, 1955, in Kimball, Nebraska, to Donald and Alice Chaon, she attended grade schools in Potter and Sterling and greatly enjoyed playing the piano. After graduating from Sidney High School in 1973, she worked at Cabelas until 1981 when she married Emil Assad on November 27, 1981. She enjoyed being a full time mother and wife until opening her own business, Accents Home Décor, in 1997. She was involved with Beta Sigma Phi from 1985 until 1995. She was involved with the Octoberfest committee for many years, in which her involvement was instrumental in the success and expansion of the crafters’ participation.
Her hobbies consisted of crafting, traveling, researching family genealogy, and socializing with her many friends and customers. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her two grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Emil, of 32 years, her four children, Jason of Sidney, Amira and her husband, Kyle, of Denver, Colorado, Laila of Portland, Oregon, and Samia and her husband, Ian, of Lincoln two granddaughters, Caliana, age 6, and Maya, age 1. Her mother, Alice Chaon, of Sidney, her brother Larry Chaon and wife Cindy, of Sidney, and her sister-in-law Caroline Chaon of Hastings. She also had many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Proceeded in death by her father Donald J. Chaon, her brother Donald L. Chaon, her maternal grandparents John and Ethel Herboldsheimer , and her paternal grandparents Elmer and Hazel Chaon.
