As an educator I have worked with hundreds, maybe even thousands of students over the past 37 years. Most of these students are distant memories ending up being people I may or may not recognize on the street years later. But a number of students are special enough that I remember their names, remember their faces, and remember specific special moments I shared with them. Gabby was one of these students. During her junior and senior years of high school she would come to my room, often after school, and ask if I would help her with some of her studies. We would sit and work on math problems or write papers for English class. Mixed in between the tutoring was a lot of conversation. Her laugh and the lisp she had always warmed my heart. When I read about this tragic accident my heart just shattered into a thousand pieces. Not only are two little children going to be deprived of a wonderful mother, but the world will no longer include a very warm, loving, and wonderful woman. Gabby, I will miss you!
