Mary Ann “Peek” Mintken

Mary Ann “Peek” Mintken, age 91 of longtime Dalton resident passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 in Chadron, NE.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, October 19th in the Parish of the Plains Trinity Site in Dalton with Pastor Leon “Bud” Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow in the Dalton Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday from 1-7:00 P.M. Memorials can be made in Mary Ann’s name to the Mintken-Davison Ameican Legion Post #30 Women’s Auxillary. Mary Ann “Peek” Mintken, the daughter of Ira and Nona (Rivers) Felz, was born on March 3, 1927 in Wayside, NE. Mary Ann attended Wayside Country School and then moved to Chadron to Start High School where she graduated as a young teenager. She went to Chadron State College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree.
On March 25, 1948 Mary Ann was united in marriage to Clayton L. Mintken in Dalton, NE. Together they had four children Allan, Jerry, Wayne and Nora.
Mary Ann taught school in Gering and Dalton. She worked at Egging’s for a number of years until her retirement. She lived at home until her death in Chadron.
Mary Ann is survived by (3) sons: Allan and wife Susan of Chadron, NE, Jerry and wife Peggy of Hemingford, NE and Wayne of Chadron, NE; (1) daughter: Nora Ainslie and husband Tim of Fedora, SD (1) sister: Lora “Tinny” Miller and husband Jack of Hot Springs, SD, (1) sister-in-law: Fran Felz of WY and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband: Clayton, her parents: Ira and Nona Felz: mother and father- in-law: Herman and Mabel Mintken: daughter-in-law, Beverly Mintken: siblings: Nona Jillson, Lola Rathman and Ira “Manny” Felz and numerous extended family members.
