Beulah M. Asay

Beulah M. Asay, age 93 of Chappell, NE passed away at the Sedgwick County Hospital in Julesburg, CO on Tuesday, July 17, 2018
. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, July 26th in The Holechek-Bondegard Funeral Home in Chappell, formerly the Chappell Mennonite Church with Pastor Brent DeJong of the Grace Community Fellowship Church officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Mennonite Cemetery at a later date. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel to sign Beulah’s register book and leave condolences for the family. Beulah Mae Asay, the daughter of Nick and Evadne Mae (Steele) Roth was born on July 15, 1925 at Chappell. She attended the Chappell Public Schools and worked at several local restaurants and married Friend Dickinson. On September 1, 1950, Beulah was united in marriage to Virl Hatch Asay at Billings, MT. They eventually moved to Wyoming following the Oil Field work. They later moved to Phoenix, AZ and managed apartment houses. They relocated to LaBarg, WY where they owned a bar and back to Chappell for a short time in 1978 where Beulah and Larry opened the B & L Bar. Following a return trip to Wyoming in 1981, Beulah came back to Chappell in 1986. She will be remembered for her warm smile and pleasant nature at the Pump & Pantry from 1989 to 2008.
Survivors include her son: Larry Dickinson and wife Sandy of Chappell; (1) sister: Berniece “Bea” Basore of Stockton, CA; (1) brother: Allen “Sonny” Roth and wife Jolene of San Diego, CA; (5) grandchildren, (7) great-grandchildren and numerous step-family members, extended family and friends.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Virl in 1990, (1) brother: Lester Roth, (1) sister: Martha Riel and sister-in-law: Marie Houston.
