Donald G. Kopetzky was born on October 18, 1953 in Ransom, KS to Edward and Shirley (Siders) Kopetzky. He and his brother Mike grew up on a small farm outside of Scottsbluff, NE. He attended Sunflower Public School where he participated in football, basketball and track, graduating in 1972. He moved to Sidney and in 1975 met the love of his life, Diana Lynn Sick. They moved to Salt Lake City, UT in 1976 and on May 14, 1977 they were united in marriage. They then made their home in West Jordan, UT. While there, they welcomed five children, Amber, Ian, Nathan, Nicole, and Kelley. Don and Diana lived in Utah for 21 years. In June of 1998, they moved their family to Lodgepole, NE.
Don enjoyed many things in life. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in a variety of callings. In his younger years, he was an avid weight trainer and power lifter. He loved spending time with his family. He took pleasure in boating, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles, woodworking, gardening, yardwork, working on vehicles and playing with his tractors. He was a very hard worker his entire life and always put his family first. He had an amazing sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. He made friends everywhere he went and will be greatly missed by many. He returned home peacefully to his Heavenly Father on April 12, 2018.
