Helen Irene (Frank) Reiter (89) was born November 16, 1928, the 3rd of six children, to Alexander and Katie (Hart) Frank in Park City, MT. She graduated from Park City High School in 1946. After graduation, she worked for one year for the farmers Union Oil Company in Billings, MT. She was married to Walter Reiter of Laurel, MT on May 10, 1947. They made their home in Laurel and enjoyed 59 1/2 years of married life, working together on many projects, from yard projects to remodeling projects, making grandfather clocks, or any number of other interests. Helen and Walter were an inseparable team, always offering help to any and all, in whatever form it was needed. Helen and Walter had 2 children; Valerie Sue (Reiter) Hoekema and Steven Walter Reiter.
Helen devoted her entire life to nurturing and caring for her extended family. She loved entertaining her family and always had a full table for holidays and family gatherings, offering space and good food, even to unexpected arrivals. Nothing pleased her more than watching her family enjoy eating what she prepared. An accomplished seamstress, quilter, and crochet artist, “Gramma Reiter” to all, she made sure that each of the children and grandchildren were provided with beautiful unique handmade items.
Helen instilled a love of music in her children and grandchildren. The only happier sound than music in the home was the laughter of children-especially that of her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of the First Congregational Church; Helen regularly attended services, sitting “in the 4th row aisle seat on the left side.”
Helen worked as secretary/bookkeeper for Laurel Cable TV from 1972-1990, when she retired. She has been very content living with Valerie and Loren in Sidney, NE for the past two years.
She is survived by her children; Valerie (Loren) Hoekema of Sidney, NE and Steven (Elisa) Reiter of Dallas, TX; 4 grandchildren-Raelynn (Andrew) Meissner of Laurel, MT, Rebecca (Barry) Moyes of Billings, MT, Stephanie (Steve) Dworak of Minneapolis, MN, and Alex Reiter of Dallas, TX; 2 brothers-Sam (Mildred) Frank, of Laurel, and Ray (Char) Frank of Tucson, AZ;
2 sisters Betty Yeager of Billings and Joanne (El) Hoffman of Park City; and 3 sisters-in-law-Elenora Reiter and Betty Hart of Billings, and Helen Bever of Greeley, CO. Great grandchildren, also left to cherish her memory, are Jacob and Hailey Meissner and Austin, Mason, and Sadie Moyes.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Walter, parents Alex and Katie Frank; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Katherine Reiter, brother Herman Frank; brothers-in-law Victor Reiter, Larry (Betty) Yeager, Roger ( Betty) Hart, and Norm (Helen) Bever; sisters-in-law Rosie Stahley, Lydia Ostwald, Marion (Herman) Frank, Jane (Ray) Frank; and great grand-son Drew Meissner.
