KENNETH D. FOLAND

Kenneth D. Foland, age 76 of Sidney, NE passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 3rd in the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Corey Jenkins officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday from 1-7:00 P.M. with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of the family for future designation. Kenneth Doyle Foland, the son of Doyle Marshall and Effie Leota (Thompson) Foland, was born on August 9, 1941 in Torrington, WY. He graduated from Sidney High School with the Class of 1959 and later graduated from Chadron State College. Ken entered the United States Air Force in 1966 and was Honorably Discharged as a Captain after being stationed in Minot, ND. He moved back to Sidney in 1970 to work with his father at Foland Farm Machinery. On June 6, 1965 Ken was united in marriage to Fereda Mae Robinson in Sidney. Two daughters were born to this union, Stephanie and Valerie.
Ken was active in the American Legion, the Frank Welch Masonic Lodge #75, the Sidney Elks Lodge, the Platte Valley Tractor Pullers Association, was a Charter Member of the National Antique Tractor Pullers Association and the Ft. Sidney Flyers.
Survivors include his wife: Fereda of Sidney; daughters: Stephanie Mika and husband Steve of Sidney and Valerie Foland of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren: Avery Mika of Westminster, CO, Zachary Mika of Sidney and Emily Mika of North Platte; his siblings: Virginia Hokom and husband Gene of Lexington, Dale Foland of Sidney and Joyce Levick and husband Rich of Bayard; sister-in-law: Carolyn Schilz and husband Mark of Mountain Home, ID; brother-in-law: Steve Robinson and wife Suzanne of Loveland, CO and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Doyle and Effie.
