Connie was born to Tom and Geraldine (nee Reiman) Edwards on November 18, 1961. She was the eldest of three children. Connie attended Max Public Grade School during her kindergarten and first grade years and then transferred to Benkelman Grade School. She graduated from Benkelman High School in 1980. She attended WNCC in Scottsbluff where she met her future husband of 36 years, Terry Akeson.
The two were married on August 1, 1981 in the Benkelman Friends Church and to this union two daughters were born. Megan Kay (nee Akeson) Suh and McKenzie Lee Akeson. Connie had two passions in life, her family and her faith. She worked tirelessly at both endeavors. She was never too tired to proofread a school paper or bake cookies for a fundraiser. She would take every opportunity to make each day special for her family. She was very content playing a supporting role and took great joy in the successes of others. Connie was employed as a rural mail carrier for twenty years before retiring and taking a position at Security First bank in Sidney as their Security Gold Director.
Connie truly loved her job at Security First and dearly loved each and every member of her Gold Club. She would pour her whole heart into the planning and hosting of the Club’s various social events. She was a member of the County Canvassing Board, Treasurer of the Deuel County Fairbaord and a member of the PEO Sisterhood for many years.
Connie’s faith was the centerpiece of her life. As a young girl she committed her life to Christ and never deviated from her walk of faith. She truly loved her Lord and Savior and never passed up an opportunity to tell others about his love for them. She ministered to others by her works and deeds and never missed an opportunity to pray for God’s blessings and healings on others. She led others to Christ by her example and was truly a kind and compassionate disciple.
Connie is survived by her husband Terry of Chappell. Two daughters Megan (Kyungwon) Suh of North Platte, NE. and Mc Kenzie Akeson of Lincoln, NE, mother Geraldine Edwards of Benkelman NE, one brother Michael (Janice) Edwards of Benkelman, NE and one sister Kathy (Chris) Harrison of North Platte, NE. She was Nana to one granddaughter Adelynn Grace Suh and one soon- to-arrive granddaughter Oliveah Noelle Suh.
She was preceded in death by her father Tom Edwards, Grandparents Al “Dick” and Lena (nee Woods) Reiman and Alvin and Doris (nee Wilson) Edwards.
