Obituary for Michael S. "Mike" Hartzler
MIKE S. HARTZLER
Mike Scott Hartzler (a.k.a. Hudda, Pappa) left this life on November 2, 2017, and as he did he left every single one of us with a lifetime of cherished memories. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 7th in the Light of the World Lutheran Church in Fort Worth, TX. A viewing of the Texas Funeral Service will begin at 9:00 A.M., Saturday, November 11th at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel. Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. Lunch will follow graveside services at the Rock, 1540 10th Avenue, where friends may visit with family. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday to sign Mike’s register book and leave condolences for the family. You may view Mike’s Book of Memories, leave photos, stories and words of sympathy at www.gehrigstittchapel.com In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of the family for future designation.
Mike lived a full and vibrant life. He touched the lives of friends and family masterfully. Mike was a memory maker and even a better story teller. Mike lived his life to the fullest with hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, playing cards, and a contagious laughter that was a gift to all of us. He was an example to all of us on how to live a balanced life, embracing his quest of success at work while being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. We were given the gift of life with Mike and now comes the time we have to give him back to our Heavenly Father.
Michael Scott Hartzler was born June 26, 1962 to Mike and Gladys (Onken) Hartzler in Sidney, NE. Mike was baptized and confirmed at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Sidney. Mike graduated from Sidney High school in 1980, attended UTA at Arlington, TX, graduating with a Civil Engineering Degree in 1990. Mike married his high school sweetheart, Lori (Loschen) August 16, 1986, married 31 blessed years.
Mike is survived by his wife Lori, his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Rachel Hartzler, grandsons Michael David and Wesson Ray; parents Mike and Gladys Hartzler of Sidney; brothers Allan and wife Mickie of Sidney, Brad of Bedford, Steve and wife Angela of Sidney, sister Tracy and husband Larry Brachtenbach of Casper; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
