Born in Blyth, England in 1931, she graduated “grammar school” and grew up during WWII and had vivid memories of the bombings over England, and working for the Ministry of Labor. She met husband Bob at a dance at the ‘Roxy Ballroom’ and got married in Blyth in 1953. They would emigrate from the UK in 1956 to Toronto Canada, and after one winter there, to southern California by Greyhound bus. Marge lived in Long Beach, CA and worked at Seaside Memorial hospital. She and Bob would later travel by ship to New Zealand for a year abroad before returning once again to the U.S., visiting Australia, Tahiti, and the Fiji Islands along the way, and passing through the Panama Canal. 2 children were born and raised during their time in California, Robert and Barbara, before embarking on another new adventure which ended up in Chappell NE, of all places, in 1972. Marge went to work for Richards and Richards as a legal secretary, a position she would hold for 23 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and choir, was active in BPW, and became a diehard Cornhusker football fan. Son Christopher was born and raised in Chappell, with all 3 kids attending and graduating Chappell High School. As Marge and Bob approached retirement, they once again began thinking of warmer weather, and decided they had yet another adventure left in them as they said goodbye to family and friends and headed off to Ocala Florida in 1996 to live out their retirement years. Marge was involved with many activities there, including choir, line dancing, bowling, tennis, teaching aerobics, and of course riding her bike and many long walks with her husband and best friend Bob. She would later return to the Nebraska area after the loss of her beloved husband in 2010, to be closer to family. Marge will be missed by all that had the pleasure of meeting her. She was one of a kind, and a good friend to all. Rest in Peace.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband Bob, 3 sisters - Alma, Susie, and Gladys, and 4 brothers - John, Ronnie, Bobby and Alan. She is survived by 1 sister, Kathleen Hooper of Northumberland England; son Robert (and wife Diane) of Sidney, NE; daughter Barbara Manning, grandkids Ryan (and Kara), Autumn (and Michael) and Maggie, and great grandchildren Charlie and William, all of Overland Park, KS; and son Christopher (and wife Cheryl) of Reno, NV.
