LUCILLE “LUCY” ARELLANO


Lucille “Lucy” Arellano, 98 of Sidney passed away, Wednesday, September 13, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at SRMC Extended Care.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 1 to 4 pm at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel with the Rosary Service following at 6 pm at St Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 20 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 10:30am with Fr. Mike McDermott officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Lucy’s name to the church. You may view Lucy’s Book of Memories, leave condolences photos and stories at www.gehrigstittchapel.com. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Lucy’s care and funeral arrangements.

Lucy was born October 1, 1918 in Pueblo, Colorado to Jose and Isidara Reyes. Lucy married Ruben Arellano, November 2, 1937 in Ft. Collins, Colorado. They moved to Sidney where she worked at the Sioux Army Depot and later worked at Sidney Memorial Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide. She also helped raise 2 granddaughters and a grandson.

She is survived by her son Rudy (Pat) Arellano, daughter MaryLou Aguiniga (Ray), granddaughters Kristy Tucker (Manuel), Dana Christofferson, Tammy Votaw and grandson Richard Arellano (Rachel) 11 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren

She is preceded in death by her husband Ruben, parents, infant son and six sisters.
