Obituary for Robert L. Elsen
Robert L. Elsen, Sr.
Robert L. Elsen, Sr., age 88 of Sidney, NE passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the Sidney Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care in Sidney.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 28th in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Hall and Pastor Ken Boston officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday from 1-7:00 P.M.. Robert Lee Elsen Sr., was born on December 14, 1928 to Henry Elsen and Anna (Moseman) Elsen in Sidney, NE. He spent his childhood on a farm south of Sunol. He attended Sunol Schools, He married Lorna Limbeck on January 18, 1953 in Sidney, and they were married over 60 years. Together they lived and farmed southeast of Sidney, in the South Divide. In the early 60’s they moved to Sidney but continued farming. In addition to farming he often worked winters at other jobs, including the Sugar Beet Factory in Ovid. He served as a Director and President of the Board at Wheat Belt Public Power and was active in Wheat Growers. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the church Council.
Robert is survived by his wife Lorna. His sister, Madelyn (Louis) Evezich, (4) children and spouses: Rece Ann (Craig) Herboldsheimer; Robert (Susan) Lee Elsen, Jr.; Alan (Valerie) Elsen; Jeffrey (Brenda) Elsen. He has (16) grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, (1) sister, (3) brothers and grandson Levi Elsen.
