Ronald E. “Buck” Rogers, age 81 of Sidney, NE passed away at his home, Monday morning, April 3, 2017.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 7th, in the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Corey Jenkins officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery. Cremation has been held. You may view Buck’s Book of Memories, leave condolences, photos and stories at www.gehrigstittchapel.com.
Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Buck’s care and funeral arrangements.
Ronald Eugene Rogers, the son of James Glenn and Grace Louella (Hobson) Rogers, was born on June 24, 1935 at Lodgepole, NE.
He attended school in Lodgepole graduating with the Class of 1955.
He went to work for the Cheyenne County Roads Department and retired in January 2000, where he worked for 28 years.
On April 7, 1973, Ron was united in marriage to Linda Lee (Kleinert) Johnson in the United Methodist Church in Sidney, NE. To this union a daughter was born Traci Lee Rogers-Heitman. He also has a daughter from a previous marriage Nancy Elizabeth Rogers, and Linda’s son Guy Lee Johnson.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, fishing and going to stock car racing events and of course bull riding events.
He was a member of Sidney Elks Lodge #1894, Sidney, NE for 36 years. He also was involved with the Veterans program in Scottsbluff, NE, which he was proud of and enjoyed very much.
Special friends: Doyle and Charlotte Sanders, Dale and Bonita Dickinson, Jack (Edna) Bruns, Norma (Roy) Call, John and Linda Harris, and Dennis Heitman
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Linda. Daughters: Nancy Rogers of York, NE., Traci Rogers-Heitman and fiancé Jeff Harris of Potter, NE, and son Guy Johnson of Sidney, NE,
Grandchildren: Maranda Heitman & fiancé Cody Seals of Kearney, NE, Dakota Heitman, Brady Heitman and Kobe Heitman all of Coleridge, NE, Madisson Harris of Potter, NE., Ashley Dowler and husband Brian of Sterling, CO, Cody Johnson of Sidney, NE, Lisa Heyen , and wife Julie of Seward, NE, Scotti Shelton of Ft. Lupton, CO, Craig Rogers and fiancée Brittany Vance of Council Bluffs, IA, Jacob Rogers and wife Kelcie of Ord, NE.
Great grandchildren: Dakota, Aaliyah and Raiden Seals, Talon and Jaycee Dowler, Jaycee, Micha and Raven Heyen, Dante, Rhyley, and Memphis Shelton, Avery, Aiden and Millie Rogers and Hudson Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, (2) infant daughters, his brother James Rogers, and (3) sisters: Joyce Hendricks, Reta Farren, and LaVon Kintz.
