DAVID L. BAUER

David L. Bauer, age 67 of Lodgepole, NE passed away at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, CO Wednesday evening, December 14, 2016.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 21st in the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel in Sidney. Services will conclude at the funeral home. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for medical research. Donations may be made in care of the family. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Dave’s care and funeral arrangements.
David Laverne Bauer, the son of Lloyd Clarence and Violet Marie (Hoffman) Bauer, was born on August 18, 1949 in Sidney. He grew up in the Lodgepole area and graduated from Sidney High School in 1968. Following graduation David joined the Navy. Following his discharge he moved to Alaska and worked as a Surveyor. He moved back to Sidney and worked in the Oil Fields, doing construction and then joined Union Pacific Railroad in 1976, retiring after thirty-three years of employment. On May 12, 1978, David was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Wallinger at Oshkosh, NE.
David was a good man who helped anyone. He loved retirement, working around his acreage and doing remodeling work. His favorite activity revolved around his motorcycle. He was loved by all and there will be a big hole in this world.
Survivors include: his wife: Barb, son: Nick, mother: Vi, brother: Dan and wife Becky, sisters-in-law: Diane Wallinger and Vicki Swarthout and husband Randy and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
David was preceded in death by his father: Lloyd and brother: Ed.
