Dale was born on February 28, 1938 to Walter and Emma (Skrdle) Kohlschmidt. Dale learned to farm at a young age and dedicated his life to his family and working the land. Dale also volunteered for the National Guard in Sterling. He married Anita Curtis on Sept. 23, 1962 in Stoneham, CO. They moved north of Crook where they farmed and raised their two children, Kyle and Julie. In addition to their children, Dale raised dryland crops and cattle, guinea fowl, peacocks, ducks, chickens and many other animals. Dale especially liked his miniature donkeys and they loved him scratching their backs. He worked hard to provide for his family. Often called “High Pockets”, Dale towered tall and skinny. He was a very patient man with a kind soul whose smile will be greatly missed.
Dale is survived by his son Kyle Kohlschmidt and Daughter-in-Law Laurie of Crook and her children Jill Sauder and her son Zaire of Sidney, NE and Luke Sauder of Brighton, CO; his daughter Julie Constance and Son-in-Law Rod of Greeley and their children Kohl and Bryce and his sister Rosalyn Schauf of Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by his wife Anita, his parents Walter and Emma Kohlschmidt and his sister Viola Clark of Cedar Creek, MO.
