FRANCIS E. “FRAN” HEDGLIN

Francis E. Hedglin, age 86 of Sidney, NE passed away Wednesday evening, July 20, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Sidney.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 29th at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Military Graveside Honors will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Cremation has been held. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Thursday, to drop off condolences for the family and sign Francis’ register book. Memorial contributions may be made in Francis’ name to the Boy Scouts of America. You many view his Book of Memories, leave condolences, photos and stories at www.gehrigstittchapel.com.
Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Fran’s care and funeral arrangements.
Francis E. Hedglin, the son of James Edward and Carrissa “Bell” Hedglin was born on November 12, 1929 at Bridgeport, NE. He attended school in Bridgeport, NE. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. Following his Honorable Discharge he returned home and met Norma Sinner. They began their sixty years of marriage November 20, 1955. Three boys were born to this union. Francis loved trapping, hunting and fishing. He worked as a cowboy, trapped for extra income and was a Barber for many years. Francis also was an auctioneer, was employed by the City of Sidney and served as caretaker of the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds until his retirement. He enjoyed training his hunting dogs and served as a Scout Master teaching many young men skills to survive and be productive citizens.
Survivors include his wife: Norma of Bridgeport; (3) sons: Jeff and wife Lisa of Sidney, Scott and wife Eddy of Albuquerque, NM and Greg and wife Laurna of South Carolina; (9) grandchildren; (7) great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members. Francis is preceded in death by his mother and father and an infant sister.
