MICHAEL E. KOPETZKY

Michael E. Kopetzky, age 65 of Sidney, NE passed away at his home Sunday, June 19, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 24th in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Jim Heithoff officiating. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday to sign Mike’s register book and leave condolences for the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s name to the SRMC Hospice. Friends may view Mike’s Book of Memories, leave condolences, photos and stories at www.gehrigstittchapel.com.
Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Mike’s care and funeral arrangements.
Michael Edward Kopetzky, the son of Edward Michael and Shirley Eileen (Siders) Kopetzky, was born on August 10, 1950 in Sidney. He began school in Sidney before the family moved north of Scottsbluff where he attended and later graduated from Sunflower Schools. On November 29, 1969 he was united in marriage to Cheryl Rae Debus at Scottsbluff. Mike began working as a mechanic and later started farming in Deuel and Keith County. He started truck driving before moving to Sidney and worked at Cabela’s and Wal-Mart.
Mike was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed his draft horses and did steer roping.
Survivors include his wife Sheri of Sidney; (3) children: Scott and wife Kimberly of Chino Valley, AZ, Kelly of Big Springs, NE and Jennifer Johanson and husband Dieter of Fort Morgan, CO; (3) grandchildren: Kris Kopetzky, Angel Strand and Dalton Harris; (1) brother: Don Kopetzky and wife Diana of Lodgepole; (2) sisters-in-law: Sylvia Love of Morrill, NE and Valerie Hernandez and husband Juan of Garden City, KS; (1) brother-in-law: Jim Debus of Lincoln, NE and numerous extended family members and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law: Walter and Marjorie Debus and sister-in-law: JoAnn Stafford and husband Tim.
