DOROTHY L. NIENHUESER
Dorothy L. Nienhueser, age 91 of Sidney, NE passed away at the Sidney Regional Medical Center early Saturday morning, September 5, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 9th in the Trinity Lutheran South Divide Church with Pastor Ted Bourret officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Lutheran South Divide Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Tuesday from 1-7:00 P.M. with family present from 5-7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s name to The Lutheran Hour, the church or the donor’s choice.

Dorothy Lucille Laker was born June 22, 1924 in Sidney, NE. She lived on a farm south of Sidney with her parents Clay and Clara (Brauer) Laker and her sister Ruth until the age of four when they moved to Aurora, IN. The Laker family managed the Aurora Country Club and Golf Course for eleven years. Dorothy graduated from St. John’s Lutheran School and Aurora High School in 1942. Dorothy met and married Raymond Nienhueser in Aurora on November 21, 1948. They had one son Kerry Ray Nienhueser, born August 24, 1951. Dorothy loved golf and started playing again in the 80’s. Dorothy served on the Board for the Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League and taught Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran Church South Divide for many years. She spent many years traveling with Ray as he served in various capacities within the Lutheran Laymen’s League. Dorothy always had a great garden and was a whiz at baking pies.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clay and Clara Laker, son Kerry Nienhueser and sister Ruth Sandbrink.
She is survived by her husband Ray Nienhueser of Sidney, daughter-in-law Valerie Nienhueser of Sidney, as well as her grandchildren Brad Nienhueser, Angie Ribera and her husband Tyler, and Teresa Nienhueser and five wonderful great-grandchildren.
