Mildred Van Aelstyn, age 97 of Sidney, NE and former Kimball, NE resident passed away at the Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care, Tuesday evening, October 28, 2014.
Graveside inurnment will be at 10: 30 A.M., Saturday, November 8th in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. Cremation has been held. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday to sign Mildred’s register book and drop off condolences for the family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mildred’s name to the Dorwart Cancer Center or Sidney Regional Medical Center.

Mildred Muriel Van Aelstyn, the daughter of Raymond Franklin and Minnie (Armstrong) Stark, was born on September 18, 1917 at Ogallala, NE and moved to Sidney as a young girl. On January 16, 1937, Mildred was united in marriage to Edward William Van Aelstyn at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney. They farmed south of Sidney until retiring in 1981 and moved to Kimball. Mildred worked like the “hired man” while on the farm, milking cows and delivering milk to customers every day. They always had a huge garden and sold the produce. After moving to Kimball she enjoyed fishing, gardening, making jelly, baking and numerous craft projects. Mildred was always busy doing something.
Survivors include (1) daughter: Kathy Bules and husband Mike of Peetz, CO; (3) sons: Mark and wife Claire of Poway, CA, Robert and wife Louise of Hillsdale, WY and Dale and wife Chris of San Pedro, CA; (12) grandchildren; (2) step-grandchildren and (25) great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, (1) son: Terry, (2) brothers: Raymond and Clare Stark, (1) sister: Amy Vach and (1) grandchild.
