Darlene (Friede) Davis was the third daughter of 10 children born to John and Marie (Schreiner) Friede, on October 30, 1926. Darlene attended from grade school in northeast Cheyenne County, Nebraska across the road from the family farm. She drove to Lisco, NE during her high school years, graduating in 1943.
