VEARN NIENHUESER

Vearn Nienhueser, age 93 of Sidney, NE passed away Saturday evening, January 4, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Sidney.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 8th in the Trinity Lutheran South Divide Church with Pastor Daniel Larson officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the South Divide Cemetery.
Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Tuesday from 1-7:00 P.M. with the family present from 5-7:00 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made in Vearn’s name to The Lutheran Hour or the Church.

Vearn Martin Nienhueser, the son of William Henry and Augusta Marie (Utecht) Nienhueser was born on January 20, 1920 on the farm at Kenesaw, NE. In 1928 the family moved to Haxton, CO and to Sidney in 1934. Vearn was confirmed in the South Divide Church on June 2, 1935. In October of 1941, he joined the United States Army, serving his country during World War II, receiving his Honorable Discharge in October of 1945. Vearn returned to the family farm and worked with his father and brother Ray. On November 19, 1952, Vearn was united in marriage to Beverly Bailey in Denver, CO. To this union four children were born. He lived on the family farm until the time of his death.
Vearn was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran South Divide and was active on several boards. He was a longtime member of Lutheran Laymen’s League holding various offices, a member of Farm Bureau and served on the board from 1972 to 2004.
Survivors include his children: Martin and wife Krysti of Sidney, Peggy Grimm and husband Lyle of North English, IA, Eugene and wife Marleen and Bruce and wife Lisa both of Sidney; (1) brother: Ray and wife Dorothy of Sidney; (3) sisters-in-law: Ruth Nienhueser of Sidney, Velma Bailey of Paxton, NE and Frieda Bailey of Wymore, NE; (7) grandchildren: Shaun Nienhueser and wife Mikki, Ericka Nienhueser, Jason Grimm and wife Hannah, Brittney Grimm, Heidi Nienhueser, Riley Nienhueser and wife Mandi and Tanner Nienhueser; (2) great-grandchildren: Creighton Nienhueser and Elliot Grimm and numerous extended family members and friends.
Vearn was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Beverly in 2007; (4) brothers: Herbert, Victor, Clifford and Arthur; (4) sisters: Irene Fischer, Mable Tegtmeier, Helen Koester and Eldora Schubarth; (1) grandson: Chad Nienhueser and numerous extended family members.
