DOROTHY M. PRESTON

In loving memory of Dorothy M. Preston, age 88 of Greeley, CO and former Sidney, NE resident, passed away at the Bonnel Good Samaritan Care Center in Greeley, CO Wednesday, August 7, 2013. Graveside services will be held 12 noon August 12th in the Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Leonard Suhr officiating. Visitation will be held at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday August 12th from 9:00 until 11:30 A.M. Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s name to the donor’s choice. Dorothy M. Preston was born May 27, 1925 in Gurley, Nebraska to Soren C. and Emma A. (Petersen) Jensen. After graduating High School, Dorothy attended Bryan Memorial Hospital where she completed three years of Nurses training. She then married Cecil C. Preston, March 26, 1945. They made their home in Melbourne, IA where she worked in assembly, before moving to Sidney, NE to raise their family. Following a move to Otis, CO where the family farmed for eleven years, they then went into Hotel Management where they managed hotels in Arizona and New Mexico. After the passing of her husband in 1979, she moved to Greeley, Co to be closer to her son Bruce and grandchildren: Jennifer and Dayton. She spent seventeen years working for Don and Connie Jetter in Greeley and helped to manage seven Hallmark stores. Dorothy relocated to Florida to live near her daughter, Gail and her grandchildren: Lisa and Kelly. In Florida, she was employed at mailbox etc. Dorothy returned to Sidney before moving to Kersey, CO to live with her son, Bruce and wife Carol. Dorothy leaves her memories to be cherished by her loving and devoted family. son: Bruce Preston and wife Carol of Kersey; daughter: Gail Bass and husband James of Morganton, GA; 4 grandchildren: Jennifer (Christopher) Hanson, Lisa (James) Livingston, Kelly (Mark) Kurylo and Dayton Preston: 2 great-grandchildren: Destiney (Cameron) Ogle, Michael Allen Lee Murdock, Cordelia Hanson: 1 great-great-grandchild: Jacob Lee Ogle: sister-in-laws: Evelyn Jensen of Sidney and Shirley Jensen of Gwinn, MI along with numerous extended family members and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cecil in 1979 and 2 brothers: Wes Jensen and Robert Jenson. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Bonnel Good Samaritan Care Center in Greeley, CO for their support in her final days.
